The Exploited are punk rock!

In the 27 years since The Exploited’s resounding call-to-arms declaration of “Punk’s Not Dead!” (which was the #1 independent album of 1981 reaching #20 in the UK national charts), the band have been tear gassed by German cops, banned from Holland, arrested in Spain, and caused more ear-wrecking damage than a multi-car pile up.

The Exploited have been covered by Slayer; cited by groups as diverse as Massive Attack, Dinosaur Jr, and QOTSA as a key inspiration; and – along with Discharge and GBH – formed the template for thrash/speed metal and all its various bastard offshoots. They’ve taken their brand of chaos to audiences all over the world – including the off-the-beaten-track places like China, South America, and SE Asia – and always found like-minded socially and politically aware individuals.

Never selling out, never splitting up (despite numerous line-up changes) and never bowing down, The Exploited have made it to 2007 with their punk rock integrity and their furious, thrashing, volume-dealing, aural assault intact. Proving that the passage of time has not dimmed the fires of the group’s menace to society mission, their most recent album spells out their message in no uncertain terms: F**k the System.

If you’re looking for cosy punk-nostalgia, best to look elsewhere. The Exploited are the real deal: fast, furious, loud, punk rock.
