Love On The Land: Magazine Plays Matchmaker

Love On The Land: Magazine Plays Matchmaker

After the amazing success of The Australian Women’s Weekly’s first Find A Farmer A Wife campaign, it is playing Cupid again for New Zealand’s lovelorn farmers.

“These are terrific, salt of the earth guys,” says Jenny Forsyth, associate editor of The Australian Women’s Weekly (NZ Edition). “They’re seeking life partners, but they’re isolated on their farms without the social networks that we city dwellers take for granted.”

The 2004 campaign proved that good old-fashioned matchmaking still works. It resulted in at least four marriages and growing families on farms throughout New Zealand.

There are nearly 800,000 single women in New Zealand and The Australian Women’s Weekly (NZ Edition), the country’s biggest-selling monthly title, reaches almost a third of them.

In the October 2007 issue (on sale 27 September), Kiwi men of the land will be given another chance to meet the woman of their dreams. The campaign begins by looking for farmers of all ages to take part in the second Find A Farmer A Wife promotion.

The process is simple. Eligible farmers (or their mothers, sisters, fathers or mates) need only complete the application form in the October issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly (NZ Edition) and send it in by November 9, 2007.

After selecting 20-25 of the most eligible rural Romeos, The Australian Women’s Weekly (NZ Edition) will feature them in the February 2008 issue and invite readers in search of a country soul mate to send in a letter and photograph. The team at The Australian Women’s Weekly (NZ Edition) will put them in touch with the farmer of their choice – and let nature do the rest.

ENDS.
