Womad’s Early Bird Tickets Already Sold Out

With the WOMAD New Zealand 2008 line-up not yet even announced, early-bird three day tickets have already sold out after only two weeks on sale!

Suzanne Porter, WOMAD Chief Executive says: “It’s exciting to see that people have acted quickly this year to ensure they don’t miss out on tickets. In 2007 many people were left disappointed because WOMAD sold out completely six weeks prior to the event and we anticipate a complete sell out even sooner for the 2008 Festival”.

WOMAD New Zealand 2008 will be the sixth time this unique festival has been held in New Zealand, and the fourth time New Plymouth has played host to the event following the hugely successful sold-out 2007 festival. WOMAD New Zealand 2007 was the biggest music festival of the summer with more than 45,000 people attending over the three days.

According to WOMAD Artistic Director Roger King, the stunning 2008 line-up will include: “a soul and gospel legend who possesses one of the most recognisable and treasured voices in contemporary music, some modern day funk legends, a virtuoso and his orchestra and many more - plus a selection of New Zealand’s finest talent.”
