AQUATICA set to rock Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour
- Th’Dudes, The Exponents and OpShop to perform on the Island -

Saturday 26 January will see an eclectic mix of top Kiwi talent perform live against the backdrop of Auckland’s stunning harbour, as part of Aquatica – Auckland’s Harbour Festival.

New Zealand’s favourite rock sons, Th’ Dudes, headline what is set to be an unforgettable night of Kiwi music.

Current NZ chart toppers and NZ Music Award winners OpShop kick off the gig with classic Kiwi band The Exponents delivering that line up of hits they’re famous for.

The Exponents are together again to play this one show only gig at Aquatica after the success of the 2006 concert at the Harbour Festival and are once again set to get the party started.

Following a special pyrotechnics display to fire up the gig, all time Kiwi rockers and local legends, Th’Dudes, will head up the ticketed ‘Legends of Kiwi Rock’concert with songs from their Summer of Love tour, featuring Dave Dobbyn, Peter Urlich, Ian Morris, Bruce Hambling and Lez White.

The Saturday night ‘Legends of Kiwi Rock’ concert will see Te Wero Island and the Viaduct Harbour come alive with homegrown sounds set amongst the sails.

Aquatica event organiser, Dave Stewart says the Legends of Kiwi Rock concert will transform the bustling daytime excitement of Aquatica to a rocking evening celebration.

“Having New Zealand musical icons playing against the backdrop of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, will ensure the party atmosphere that will be Aquatica”, says Dave.

Aquatica – Auckland’s Harbour Festival is returning to the City of Sails over Auckland Anniversary Weekend, 25 – 28 January 2008.

At the 2006 event, 223,000 Aucklanders were treated to fireworks displays, tall ships, street theatre, fly-pasts and concerts. This year promises to be even bigger and better with plenty of activities for all the family both on and off the water, and in the sky.
