Royal Easter Show Art Awards 08

Calling all artists! You have until 8 February to get your entries in for this year's Royal Easter Show Art Awards.

New Zealand's largest art competition and show, the awards are open to amateur and professional artists nationwide, with thousands of dollars in prize money to be won.

There are painting and print making, photography, ceramic and pottery, glass blowing and woodcraft sections.

All entries must be for sale and will be displayed for the duration of the Royal Easter Show, on from 20-24 March at the ASB Showgrounds.

Continuing to grow in popularity, last year's competition saw more than 2,000 artworks on display and hundreds of artworks sold.

"There's some great prize money and a wide range of categories open to artists of all levels of experience and expertise," says Gaylene Ashton from the Royal Easter Show Event.

"And with the largest viewing audience of any art show in the country, the show provides an excellent opportunity to display and sell your work. It's also great for networking with the art community and potential future buyers."

Gaylene says art lovers and anyone looking to purchase a piece of art should make their way to the display in the Art Hall, on for the duration of the Royal Easter Show.

A demonstration area will feature painting and wood turning demonstrations, and an onsite shop will sell jewellery, textiles, glassware, pottery, quilts, sculpture, gift cards and other arts and crafts.

Anyone interested in entering should go to www.royaleastershow.co.nz for an entry form and schedule, or contact Gaylene Ashton, Royal Easter Show Coordinator on (09) 623 7697 or Gaylene@asbshowgrounds.co.nz

Entries must be received by 5pm Friday 8 February 2008.
