Hatrick Of Firsts At Thunder On The Great Lake!

Hatrick Of Firsts At Thunder On The Great Lake!

Taupo, New Zealand, January, 2007 – How do you get a hatrick of firsts in just one boat race? By watching Greg Brinck and Eldon Archer continue their winning form from last season in their all new ‘Konica Minolta’ boat at its debut race on Sunday 27th January, at the NZ Offshore Powerboat Race Championships in Taupo. Konica Minolta - first across the line in the Sports 60 class, over half a lap in front of their rivals, completed the 7 lap course in less than 50 minutes.

A first win for Force Boats in the NZ Offshore Powerboat Championships and first competitive win in New Zealand for the powerhouse – a brand new Evinrude E-TEC 225ho outboard.

What a formidable combination! After a powerful start, Greg and Eldon led their class from the beginning, in windy choppy conditions, leaving some of the V8’s in the higher class of the 60 mile field chasing their tail. “With minimal testing time prior to the race, we were thrilled with how competitive we were from the start” Greg said

“The great thing is we know we have more speed to come and with time to test the propellers and experiment with ballast & trim setup” he continued. The next round of the NZ Offshore Powerboat champs is at Gulf Harbour, Auckland on Saturday February 16th and the plan is to keep up this momentum.
