Sweet sounds to the City for the ‘V’ Block Party

MEDIA RELEASE 26 February 2008

Op Shop & Autozamm bring sweet sounds to the Windy City for the ‘V’ Block Party

Acclaimed Kiwi band Op Shop captivated the Capital last night with an electric performance at Waitangi Park. The Auckland based band convoyed to Wellington with local lads Autozamm in tow, to play the ‘V’ Free Block Party.

Over 3000 people rocked out in Waitangi Park for the ‘V’ Block Party; the first event of its kind to be held in Wellington in a picturesque park situated next to Te Papa museum.

Inspired by similar Block Parties that originated in New York City, the aim of the ‘V’ free block parties has been to stage unique community events; to bring the people of Wellington together and give them a good time.

“It was great to take the ‘V’ Block Party to Wellington after the success of December’s event in Auckland. We established The People’s Republic of V campaign to give our customers what they want and live music has been a huge part of that. It’s all about letting them decide what we do and the campaign has been really well received, as can be seen with last nights stellar turn-out,” says ‘V’ Brand Manager Jo Turner.

The People’s Republic of ‘V’ has run a number of fun, exciting events around the country and there is still more to come! Check out www.vrepublic.co.nz for the latest updates.
