21 APRIL 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Two Of The World’s Legendary Rock Bands - U2 & The Rolling Stones Perform Live & Loud At IMAX Queen St.
Moviegoers and concert fans alike can experience the pulsing energy of a U2 and a Rolling Stones concert in two new movies coming soon to IMAX at SKYCITY Cinemas Queen Street.
U23D is set to deliver a unique cinematic experience when it opens to the public on April 24 at IMAX Queen St. Marrying innovative digital 3D imagery and 12,000 watts of proprietary digital surround sound with the excitement of U2’s live Vertigo concert shot in South America. The film is a theatrical experience unlike any 3D or concert film seen before.
When the Rolling Stones hit the IMAX screen on May 29, audience satisfaction is guaranteed. Martin Scorsese 's concert film, Shine A Light was filmed at the famous New York Beacon Theatre in 2006 by a multi award-winning line-up of cinematographers tasked with capturing the raw energy of the legendary band. A combination of this footage and IMAX ' s larger-than-life imagery and state-of-the-art digital surround sound brings the Rolling Stones to life.
Playing as close to live as you'll get outside of a stadium, visit www.skycitycinemas.co.nz to secure your tickets or call 09-302-0002. U2 3D tickets now on sale and Shine A Light tickets available from 1 May.
