Second-Hand Wedding No.1 New Release This Week

Kiwi Film Second-Hand Wedding opened this week as the Number 1 new release at the New Zealand Box Office.

Second-Hand Wedding directed by Paul Murphy and starring Geraldine Brophy, opened on 55 screens across the country on May 15.

Sneak sessions were held on Mothers Day, and these proved to be a real success with female audiences. This success carried on throughout the week, with the feel good factor of Second-Hand Wedding seeing audiences all over the country fall in love with this colloquial tale.

Distributor, Gordon Adam from Metropolis Films comments this result is a 'really encouraging sign. Kiwis are really identifying with the film.' The positive response Second-Hand Wedding has received reflects audiences support for non-offensive films about everyday kiwi life.' Second-Hand Wedding is full of heart and charm. It doesn't rely on sex, violence and bad language and still audiences are turning up in droves. '

Second-Hand Wedding has received extensive media coverage, and has been endorsed by such media personalities as Paul Holmes. Adria Buckton from Trigger Marketing comments 'The New Zealand media have really got behind this local film. The enthusiasm and support the media have shown for this film has been astounding.'

Second-Hand Wedding has received a phenomenal response not only from New Zealand audiences this week but also had a successful outing at the Cannes Film Festival where it received rapturous applause from capacity crowds.

Second-Hand Wedding is proving to be the little film that could.
