Good news for the alternative / acoustic / experimental fan: Skallander, the sonic bridge between Wellington and Hungary return with their 3rd album.
Bevan Smith and Matthew Mitchell’s self-titled new album follows up on their critically-acclaimed ‘Camels’ debut. Even more than last time, the new album sounds like a beautiful soundtrack to an imaginary film noir production with the following shareholders: 30% Robert Wyatt, 40% Syd Barrett, 10% The Beatles, and 20% Neil Young.

For all the trainspotters out there, a few icons that come to our minds when listening to Skallander are: Robyn Hitchcock, The Soft Boys, Elliot Smith, This Heat, Rhythm and Sound, The Groundhogs, Pink Floyd and The Police.
So if you..
* Believe in the future.
* Spend hours with your nose in the newspaper wishing for a better world.
* Remember what it was like to dream of being a sports superstar.
* Think you know better than mapquest.
Then this is the album for you!

On Tour

Steal a night back from winter and go along to see Reb Fountain and Johnny Barker (of notorious serial-killing Shortland Street fame!) live.
A tour that whips around the country, you won’t need to go too far from your duvet to enjoy the warmth that eminates from these solo musicians. like a glass of mulled wine.
So forget the weather, grab your coat, and wrap your hands around a glass of mulled wine. You’ll be glad you made the effort as these two talents take the stage.
“The songs were dynamic in structure and delivery, and the balance of mellow and rocky songs was well received. Reb has a skilful ear for melody and possesses an incredible voice…one of the best acts I’ve seen in a long time”
