It wouldn’t be fashion week without L’Oréal.

New Zealand’s premier hair and makeup brand once again commands the catwalk at Air NZ Fashion Week with a stellar line-up of hair and makeup experts supporting the country’s leading fashion houses.

L’Oréal is no stranger to the nation’s biggest fashion event. L’Oréal has been there from the inception of the event, initially as naming rights sponsor and more recently supporting its stable of designer partners.

In 2008, L’Oréal is supporting their sponsored designers, including renowned fashion brands Trelise Cooper and Yvonne Bennetti.

And while the flash bulbs might focus on the catwalk, leading hair and makeup experts are putting in the hard work backstage to style the new season’s looks for the latest New Zealand fashion.

Award winning salon Bettjemans, who recently won the Salon of the Year Award 2008 at the coveted L’Oréal Colour Trophy Awards, will be styling the hair for the show of Trelise Cooper. The team will be headed up by Grant Bettjeman who values the salon’s involvement.

“We just love fashion week and what it represents in terms of being at the forefront of the fashion industry. Our team always rises to the challenge and with L’Oréal’s support we know we have the best tools for the job.”

Yvonne Bennetti’s show will be headed up backstage by Nikki Lovrich for L’Oréal Paris and a team from Servilles, including Kyla Rose who was a finalist for the Supreme Award at the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Awards 2008.

Another of L’Oréal’s designer partners is Stitch Ministry, who will be supported at their collection showing, after the Contemporary Show they are participating in on the runway.

L’Oréal is also lending their skills for the Westpac Red Collection fashion show, featuring three of their design partners Liz Mitchell, Trelise Cooper & Yvonne Bennetti, as well as iconic labels Zambesi, Huffer, Tanya Carlson, Annah Stretton and Adrienne Winkelmann. For this exclusive invitation only show L’Oréal is preparing the best of the new season trends for the catwalk on 40 models, including 10 men.

The L’Oréal team for this show includes eight makeup artists and 12 hairdressers.

L’Oréal Paris national training manager Toni-Anne Arbon says the brand’s long-time involvement in the week stands it in good stead for the 2008 event.

“We have the people, the knowledge and experience built up over eight years at Air NZ Fashion Week so we’re well prepared. But it’s always an exciting and frenetic time and we love the challenge of matching our talents to the wonderful and innovative fashions our designers serve up.”

Air New Zealand Fashion Week runs from September 16 to 21.
