Fashion Week: Cybèle Soars Fashion Week Heights

Fashion Week: Cybèle Soars To New Fashion Week Heights

She did it again. Cybèle Wirren’s Autumn/Winter collection, shown at Fashion Week today and inspired by the Halcyon bird, looked effortless, was lush in both ideas and execution, and to put it in plain terms, was bursting with so-want-them garments.

A quite sombre opening of a grey knit with beautiful sleeve detail served to draw the eye down to amazing G&L handmade shoes with what looked like stylised plumes over the back of the ankle.

The bird motif was quickly and joyfully developed; silver plumage detail printed on black knit, gorgeous appliqué wing treatment over the shoulder of a knitted vest, or sleeves loose and floating to approximate wings.

We have come to covet Cybèle’s special dresses and a gorgeous silver cocktail number soon emerged, draped at the neck, knee length and belted. Trans-seasonality showed in use of some lighter weight, delicate prints.

A slinky multi-coloured paneled knit dress was an absolute knockout – this designer can play from casual through to dress up without batting an eyelid.

Simple ribbon and tie treatment gathered sleeves into wing-like capes charmingly and effectively. Intricate feathert/talon-y shapework adorned waist and bodice on an orange shantung skirt and strapless dress.

A discharge print of birds soaring against a silky black background was nothing short of stunning in a full length gown – another recent Cybèle signature.

But wait – there’s more! Great Cybèle denim, the perfect hooded sleeveless tie waist knit, a peak of beautiful lining inside a slashed sleeve jacket – and all of this adorned by amazing bird eyes created by MAC’s Amber D.

All this could leave the Cybèle fan very worried about what to do for their fix when the designer’s baby is born in December – but she assures us that her exceptionally capable team will ensure a seamless transition.

Cybèle makeup notes:

  • Winged Eye Look – Dark Peacock Blues – Very Smudgy
  • Wings Attached To Outside Of Eyes – Cut From Paper And Glued On
  • Lips Pretty Colourless – Leaving The Eyes As The Focus.
