Shoot on over to Norfolk Island

Media release

Shoot on over to Norfolk Island

Howdy Partner. Fancy some high noon jinks on a sub-tropical South Pacific island? Then you should shoot on over to Norfolk Island’s sixth International Pistol shoot in early December.

This shoot is a must for all ISSF sportsmen and women who are looking to combine a relaxing holiday with a competitive edge. The idyllic surroundings of the beautiful, picturesque and historic Norfolk Island will encourage you to shoot for the stars.

There’s a variety of events at the annual Norfolk Island Pistol Association event including:
• Centre Fire
• Standard Pistol
• Men’s and Women’s Sport Pistol, and
• 10 Metre Air Pistol for Ladies and Men.

The Norfolk Island pistol range is on the North Western Peninsular at Anson Bay. Surrounded by rugged coastal views and bathed in spectacular sunsets, it’s a scene to be admired whilst relaxing after a day’s pistol packing.

The range consists of 15 bays with air operated targets and a seven-bay indoor air pistol venue.

The pace of this holiday and your involvement is entirely up to the visitor. Unlike many competitions, Norfolk’s Island’s Pistol Shoot prides itself on being unregimented.

Contestants are encouraged to assist with patching and being a part of the team. Squadding choices are flexible to allow for the impromptu fishing trip, game of golf or even a morning sleep-in.

“I think it’s the relaxed atmosphere and the great hospitality of the club members that keep attracting people back each year,” says one holiday maker.

Winners and runners-up are awarded beautiful handcrafted trophies in each event.

“You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya?”
