Get Ready For the Koenigsegg

The most valuable Supercar ever to visit our shores to show at Big Boys Toys

Big Boys Toys has again shown it has access to the worlds best and brightest autos with the announcement that one of the world’s fastest production cars, the Koenigsegg CCX is to feature at this years event, November 14th – 16th at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland.

With a white-knuckle top speed of 417 km/h and an acceleration of 0-100 in 2.9 seconds the Koenigsegg CCX is one awesome feat of engineering, with a powerful 4.7 litre twin supercar V8 engine that generates a staggering 806 Bhp. Its advanced braking system makes it capable of accelerating from 0-300km/h and back to zero in a blistering 29.2 seconds.

And that extreme performance is matched with an extraordinary price-tag of approx NZ $2.3 million, making it the most expensive production motor vehicle ever to arrive on our shores!

While the Koenigsegg CCX leads the convoy at Big Boys Toys, it is only one of a long list of gleaming motor-vehicles on show this year.

Visitors will get a chance for a glimpse of the new Nissan GT-R Supercar. With a 3799cc twin turbocharged 24-valve V6, reaching 0-100 in 3.5 sec and a maximum speed of 320 km/h, this supercar is sure to impress! Nissan New Zealand plans to have this vehicle on sale early 2009.

And back stronger than ever is the New Zealand Motorcycle Show, featuring the latest models, modifications and advancements from every major manufacturer. If it is on two wheels, you’ll find it, with the addition this year of Ducati, Polaris and Victory who join the event for the very first time in 2008. Don’t forget the amazing selection of off-road quads, scooters for every activity, and top riders visiting the stands for signings over the three days of the show.

Leading out the entertainment in the arena this year will be not one, but two fantastic stunt teams, with Honda Cunningstunts; three of the best Australian Stunt Riders crossing the ditch to put on the most exciting stunt shows on all new CBR600RR Motorcycles. They’ll join New Zealand’s #1 Luke Smith with the Demon Energy FMX Team for the most exciting FMX Show ever staged at Big Boys Toys and Luke’s exciting new signature trick, the Catwalk Back-flip.

Also turning heads in the arena will be MINI Strike – billed as ‘the most fun you can have with a seat belt on’, MINI Strike sees you ride shotgun in a super sleek MINI Cooper S as a professional stunt driver manoeuvres around six larger-than-life inflatable bowling pins as fast as possible without knocking them over. Hold on as you go through a series of handbrake turns, skids and other crazy moves. Anyone can enter and there are great prizes to be won.

They’ll share the arena with the biggest boys in the country with the Memphis Meltdown 2008 NZ Strongman Competition, as a large group of seriously big men battle it out over a two day competition to find the New Zealand Champion. And back again, always a crowd pleaser, the New Zealand Army will be back in action demonstrating a live tactical assault with armoured cars and machine guns – this time joined by the Airforce with the Kiwi Blue Parachute team adding to the action.

The Cheapskates Skate Nationals also returns for the 2nd year running to find the best skaters in the nation with tricks, flips and stunts in a three day marathon of energy and action.

Not all toys are for the road and as always Big Boys Toys features exciting hi-tech devices. Wired is the area dedicated to the latest technological advancements available in New Zealand with a computers, phones, peripherals, gaming and telecommunications. Look for exciting new product launches and leading technology that you can try (and try) before you buy.

And while there may be a million vehicle options on land, Big Boys Toys proves there are almost as many on water. This year’s Marine and Outdoors selection will feature the latest in wakeboards and accessories, through to inflatable’s, kayaks and everything in between.

For men looking for that little bit extra to make their lives complete, the Life.Style Hall has a thousand ways to celebrate man-time - from the latest in pool tables, pin ball machines, vodka tasting, clothing and accessories through to recruiting and haunted theme parks, the Life.Style Pavilion has all the important accessories to make the man!

And as always, the girls are welcome also with The Edge Girls Lounge in association with Enviro Gold Electric Cycles for a room of pampering and girly stuff.
