TVNZ Secures A Good Deal For Netball Fans
TVNZ has secured an exclusive deal for live coverage of all netball matches in Australia between the Silver Ferns and the Australia Diamonds over the next three years.
The reciprocal deal with Netball Australia also covers any games played in Australia between the Diamonds and other international teams during the three year period.
As part of this agreement, international matches played in New Zealand will be screened on the TEN network, which holds the broadcast licence from Netball Australia.
Channel TEN will provide a feed of the Australian games to TVNZ.
TVNZ Head of Sport, Murray Needham, says the deal is good news for netball fans in both countries, and a consolidation of TVNZ's special relationship with the sport and with Netball NZ.
"We look forward to working with Netball Australia and Network TEN in bringing coverage of the world's best international netball over the next 3 years. Trans Tasman competition is at the heart of our sporting heritage and it doesn't get any more competitive than on the netball courts," he said.
Network TEN's General Manager - Sport, David White, also congratulated both Netball Australia and TVNZ on the partnership. "Network TEN and TVNZ have shared feeds of recent Test Matches and we look forward to extending this relationship into the future. The announcement will help to further our collective goal of bringing Netball to the broadest possible audience at the best possible times."
The Silver Ferns play the Australia Diamonds on Sunday in Melbourne, and the match will be broadcast live on TV2 at 5pm.
