Obama inauguration live on Triangle and Stratos

For Immediate Release: January 12 2008

Obama inauguration goes live on Triangle and Stratos

New Zealanders will be able to see the United States first black President, Barack Obama, take his oath of office live on Triangle TV and sister channel Stratos on January 21 from 4am to 9am.

The coverage is via award-winning Arabic news network Al Jazeera, which is shown exclusively by Triangle and Stratos in New Zealand.

The inauguration will take place at the west front of the US Capitol building in Washington. Chief Justice John Roberts Jr will oversee the changing of the guard by administering the oath, which traditionally is done on a Bible. Also present will be members of the US armed forces, since the President is also Commander-in-Chief.

It's a day filled with ceremony, guards, salutes, parades, speeches, an inauguration ball and it is Obama’s opportunity to declare his administration’s intent.

Triangle Auckland is on UHF Channels 41, 42 and 52 and in the Wellington area UHF Channels 40 and 41. Triangle Television is now also available to Christchurch viewers via TelstraClear cable (Channel 50).

These live events can also be seen on Triangle’s sister channel, Stratos Television, which broadcasts nationwide via Sky Digital (Channel 89) and Freeview (Channel 21).
