Lesson planning, meeting curriculum needs through dance and best practice teaching.
What are the demands of the curriculum on dance, how do you organise and fit the material into the timeframe, what does the class need to get out of it, what is your role as teacher, what is the education approach to dance.
For freelance, community, studio and LAT (Limited Authority to Teach) teachers. This may also be of interest to school teachers who are unfamiliar with dance in the school curriculum.
Tutor Sue Cheesman is a very experienced Dance Educator. She has an eclectic range of skills in dance and has worked as a dance animateur (community dance), choreographer and dance artist/educator both internationally ( UK ) and here. Sue is currently Senior Lecturer in Dance Education at the University of Waikato . A dynamic presenter, Sue has worked both as dance artist and a dance educator so has the skills and experience to advise dance people on the school environment.
