NZ Age Group Netball Goes Indoors

Netball New Zealand are taking the 2009 New Zealand Age Group Netball Championship, Under 19/Under 21, indoors to The Trusts Stadium Arena in Waitakere, Auckland from the 6th – 9th July.

Seventeen U19 and Eight U21 teams will compete for national honours. The competition is a showcase of skill, courage, passion and determination to be the top U19 or U21 team in the country.

Previously held outdoors in various locations around New Zealand, the New Zealand Age Group Netball Championship U19/U21 will benefit from the move indoors as it enables players of this age and calibre to have a feel for elite and competitive Netball. This year U21 games are going to be 1hour in length where previously they were 40 minutes.

The New Zealand Age Group Netball Championships is an event that embraces all 12 Netball Regions and New Zealand’s up and coming talent. The competition has a proud tradition, as many of todays top recognisable Netballers were Talent Identified at Age Group Level.

Netball New Zealand High Performance Director, Tracey Fear believes the competition being moved indoors will benefit all involved.

“It is a great opportunity for the players and teams to be competing indoors, this replicates the conditions at the elite level.” Fear said

Coaches, Managers and Umpires will also be looking to improve their skills and test their development against other regions.

It’s easy to think of Malick films coming in pairs. In the 1970s: Badlands and Days of Heaven. Before those, he grew up in Oklahoma and Texas as the eldest of three brothers, studied philosophy at Harvard and Oxford but quit before finishing his doctorate. Then he studied film-making and got Badlands out just before he was 30. More>>
