Horse Meat Disco bio…

Since its humble beginnings over 5 years ago Horse Meat Disco has become an institution on both sides of the sexual divide. The brainchild of James Hillard and Jim Stanton, the idea was to create an alternative party that harped back to the halcyon days of parties like The Loft and The Gallery in New York.

Jim and James asked their mates to come and join them at their Sunday shindig, those DJs being Severino hailing from Mantova in Italy and Filthy Luka (aka Luke Howard) resident of Queer Nation and life long disco fanatic. These four together proved a force to be reckoned with and the parties soon became the talk of the town attracting a discerning mix of old time disco heads, club kids, bears, naturists and something new in gay clubs; a space where disco fans of a heterosexual persuasion could live out their fantasy of going to a gay disco club without feeling totally out of place.

Hercules & Love Affair, Tim Sweeney, Pat Mahoney, James Murphy, Dimitri From Paris, Derrick Carter, Daniele Baldelli, Prins Thomas, Todd Terje, Lady Miss Kier, Luke Unabomber, Maurice Fulton, Rub ‘n’ Tug, Cosmo, Daniel Wang, Gerry Rooney, Greg Wilson, DJ Spun, Mungolian Jetset, I-F, Loud-E, Steve Kotey, The Idjut Boys, Permanent Vacation, Victor Rosado, Felix Dickinson, Lowlife and Diesel to name but a few have all graced the decks at Horse Meat Disco!

Look out for a forthcoming mix CD coming up on Strut Records/K7!, home of the amazing Disco Not Disco and Disco

Italia compilations.

Werewolf: Nature’s Boy - On Terence Malik

It’s easy to think of Malick films coming in pairs. In the 1970s: Badlands and Days of Heaven. Before those, he grew up in Oklahoma and Texas as the eldest of three brothers, studied philosophy at Harvard and Oxford but quit before finishing his doctorate. Then he studied film-making and got Badlands out just before he was 30. More>>

Werewolf: Classics - Tom’s Midnight Garden (1958)

For anyone trying to write about it, Tom’s Midnight Garden poses a significant problem. The twist ending will be well known to anyone who has read the book, but first time readers would justifiably want to kill anyone who spoils the surprise, which provides one of the most satisfying and moving resolutions in children’s fiction.
