July is a month of passionate works with the NZSO. It may be cold outdoors but we can't wait for Alexander Melnikov and Mark Wigglesworth to heat up our concert halls with some spectacular works by Rachmaninov, Brahms, Debussy and Shostakovich.


NZSO National Youth Orchestra 50th Anniversary Tour

Launching the careers of hundreds of talented young kiwi musicians, the NZSO National Youth Orchestra celebrates 50 years, with New Zealand's most promising young musicians coming together for the 50th Anniversary concerts in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland starting tomorrow night!

NZSO and The Great Romantics

The Romantics are at the heart of the NZSO experience this month with programmes that mix French Impressionism and resonant Russian passion for The Fairfax Media Tour. British conducting sensation Mark Wigglesworth makes his long-awaited New Zealand debut as celebrated Russian pianist Alexander Melnikov makes a very welcome return in a special collaboration with the NZSO.

Once in a Lifetime - The Zukerman Experience

The Zukerman Experience concerts are not far away and we don’t want you to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see musical phenomenon Pinchas Zukerman performing with the NZSO conducted by Music Director Emeritus James Judd.

2009 June Violet Commons Trust Scholarship Awarded

NZSO First Violinist Anne Loeser has been awarded the inaugural June Violet Commons Trust Scholarship. Established through a generous bequest from June Commons, this scholarship enables a violinist of the NZSO to study overseas for their professional development each year.
