Dash 8 airliner to visit Greymouth

Wellington based air charter operator Vincent Aviation is to bring a Bombardier Dash 8 airliner into Greymouth Airport next Tuesday, 4 August 2009, on a charter flight, Chief Executive Officer Peter Vincent said today.

On this occasion the Dash 8, is replacing a smaller aircraft which will be undergoing routine maintenance on the day. The aircraft will arrive direct from Wellington at 9.15am and depart again at around 4pm he said.

“We are pleased to be able to demonstrate the capabilities of the Dash 8 into Greymouth Airport. It is a safe comfortable and versatile aircraft and ideally suited to serving the charter needs of the region,” he said.

Air transport is an important element in helping sustain economic growth in regions such as the Grey District. As the region’s biggest centre, Greymouth understandably warrants availability of charter aircraft able to provide good connections with the rest of New Zealand.

“The Dash 8 aircraft which can carry 40 passengers is very popular in the regional airliner market. With excellent short-field capabilities and a high cruising speed it is able to provide airliner comfort to regional airports around the world.

Vincent Aviation’s Dash 8 which has recently returned from a contract flying inter island services in the Solomon Islands cruises at up to 470 kilometers per hour and has a range of around 1800 kilometers.

Founded in 1990 by airline captain Peter Vincent, Vincent Aviation has bases at Wellington and Darwin Australia, and is one of the region’s leading charter operators. It flies a fleet of seven Beech 1900 aircraft as well as the Dash 8 and is currently adding a Cessna Mustang corporate jet to its operating approvals. It recently stationed a Beech 1900 specially modified for air ambulance flying at Mackay in Northern Queensland.
