Sunday’s aren’t so shabby with a good coffee and great music.

Liven up your September Sunday afternoons with Gravity Gigs in association with MAINZ (The Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand) and the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.

A showcase of the very best up-and-coming New Zealand talent is coming to a cafe near you in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch between September 6th - 27th.

This is a unique opportunity for up-and-coming musicians to play a set in the lead up to the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, and for you to see them in an intimate setting before they make it big.

The list of talent includes: Members of Clap Clap Riot, Iva Lamkum, Lydia Cole and Josh Leys.

Each will play a 45minute unplugged/acoustic set at a venue perfect for a lazy Sunday.

Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards Show Producer, Andrew Dowding, says, “We are delighted that Gravity is providing an opportunity and platform for these future stars of New Zealand to showcase their talent and get some great exposure for their band.”

MAINZ is providing sound systems and technicians for the events and arranging students as support acts. MAINZ Director and Hello Sailor guitarist Harry Lyon believes the performers they have arranged to support the up-and-coming headliners could well be music awards contenders themselves in the next few years.

“Josh Leys was a MAINZ student in 2006 and bands like Clap Clap Riot, The Midnight Youth and Kids of 88 all have strong MAINZ connections.” Come along and see the musicians who will be possibly receiving awards at Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards in future years. But remember, you saw them at Gravity Gigs first!

Wellington Iva Lamkum will be playing at the Harbourside Market on 6th September

Auckland Lydia Cole will be playing at La Vista Café, St Heliers on the 13th September Josh Leys will be playing at Mink, Newmarket on the 27th September
