40 Years, 95 Songs: The Top 95 Songs of bFM’s Time

The people have spoken… Jesus I Was Evil by Darcy Clay is the # 1 song for 95bFMs 95 greatest songs of all time!

The audience voted, we counted…and the Top 95 Songs of 95bFM’s Time were revealed on October 10th, 2009, 40 years after Radio Bosom first busted out on the Auckland airwaves. Topping the chart was Darcy Clay’s Jesus I Was Evil, the self-recorded pop masterpiece that travelled from Daniel Bolton’s bedroom to the 95bFM playlist back in 1996.

The fact this song is the closest to the 95bFM audience’s hearts is an indicator of how grassroots New Zealand music has become an integral part of the identity of the station and its listeners.

The list of the Top 95 Songs offers a snapshot of the diverse 95bFM sound and audience; where homegrown music stands alongside that of the rest of the world. Mixing genres, eras and generations, the Top 95 songs reflects music that challenges and rewards, regardless of any received notions of commercial success or historical importance.

The Top 10 alone sees Joy Division rubbing shoulders with Fat Freddy’s Drop, Jeff Buckley edging out LCD Soundsystem, and Johnny Cash and Jane’s Addiction nudging Concord Dawn to 11th place.
