Operatunity Scoops Top Group Award

4 November 2009

Touring troupe 'Operatunity' is this year's recipients of 'Top Group' award.

Operatunity Entertainment is honoured to have received this year's 'Top Group' award at the annual 2009 Variety Artist Club Awards.

After only 8 years in the entertainment industry, and with phenomenal success, the group is honoured to have won such a prestigious award.

The Variety Artist Club Awards are one of New Zealand's largest supporters of variety entertainment and their 2009 awards give huge commendation to the touring group who provide quality, daytime entertainment around New Zealand.

Operatunity tours the country extensively throughout the year performing over 200 daytime concerts in 23 venues from Whangarei to Invercargill.

They employ 2 accompanists, 24 singers, and also have a young artists programme designed to mentor, support and provide employment to young singers.

The touring troupe consists of the three Directors; John Cameron, Susan Boland & Geoffrey Hughes as well as several guest artists including Benjamin Fifita Makisi & Marian Burns as well as two accompanists Reg Towers and Alex Wiltshire.

The success of Operatunity comes from understanding their audience, always providing quality concerts and also providing exceptional customer service. Operatunity has achieved this to such an extent that they have incredible customer loyalty, admiration and respect. Every day letters, emails and phone calls arrive in their office filled with praise and compliments about their concerts.

One of their regular concert-goers Louise greatly enjoys the entertainment and in a recent letter she writes, "You all bring a lot of happiness to so many people and the talk goes on long after, we all love you!" Their popularity has also been such that, at one venue at their last Christmas show,
the audience stopped the show and presented Christmas gifts to all the cast.

The Variety Artist "Top Group" Award is an acknowledgement of the three directors' effort, passion and drive to entertain audiences around the country and a great endorsement of their work for community concerts around New Zealand.

With Operatunity's aim to provide quality daytime concerts that are a blend of fun and camaraderie presented in a professional, informal manner, it is easy to see why they are so popular.

For the opportunity to see these fabulous performers on stage; there is one concert left for 2009. Operatunity will be presenting 'An Olde Fashioned Christmas' in all 23 venues around New Zealand throughout November & December.

Bookings are also open for all 2010 concerts. For more information, and for bookings call toll free 0508 266 237, email bookings@operatunity.co.nz or visit their website www.operatunity.co.nz
