The Blues : Helping out with the Victim Support appeal
Local Victim Support volunteers will be hitting the streets on Friday 12th March during their ‘Show YOU Care’ annual appeal. Collectors have been recruited from local business and community groups according to local event co-ordinator Ke’ala Campton-Baker
“We’re delighted by the support the local people like The Blues have given to help make the appeal a success” says Ms Campton-Baker
Victim Support provides a 24/7 service to people when they are hurt by crime or trauma. It is a community response to people that helps people find hope strength and resilience in the face of grief and trauma.
The 24/7 service is provided free of charge in communities large and small throughout New Zealand. It is delivered by trained volunteers who give their time, energy and expertise to help people in their local community.
“Our service is delivered completely by volunteers. They’re everyday kiwis who do an extraordinary thing. The ‘Show YOU Care’ appeal is one way local people can support the work we do in the community.” Added Ms Campton-Baker
The appeal is running throughout March nationwide. Donations can be made through the website (www.victimsupport.org.nz) or call 090084 28 46 to make an automatic $20 donation.
