Colourful Costumes At Pet Fashion Parades

Media release: 15 April 2010

Colourful Costumes On Display At Animates Pet Fashion Parades Around The Country

The annual Animates Pet Fashion Parade yet again proved a success in its eleventh year, with a large number of pets and their owners taking the opportunity to strut their way down the catwalk.

“We had a fantastic turnout at all nine parades around the country,” says Animates marketing manager Brenda Caseley. “Every year, more and more effort seems to be put into the costumes, and this year was no exception with some impressive outfits on display.”

“We always encourage pet owners to let their imagination run riot – taking place in the school holidays gives children and parents the chance to really have fun with it – and they certainly went all out again in both the Best Dressed and the popular Best Look-a-like Pet and Owner categories. A real crowd favourite was a bulldog and his young owner dressed as bumblebees, complete with antennae.”

The Animates Pet Fashion Parades were held in selected stories in Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington and Christchurch, on Wednesday, 14 April.

Prizes were awarded on the day, with a number of local icons including Jude Dobson, actress Katrina Hobbs, Alix Bushnell (Britta McMann from Go Girls), Matt Minto (Dr. Isaac Worthington from Shortland Street), Clinton Randall (Just the Job presenter) and Charlie Panapa (What Now presenter) among those taking part in the day’s events in the different regions.

Animates also hosted a fashion show to showcase the season’s latest pet fashion and accessories in between the parade categories.
