support mothers in an initiative by social network for mums,
www.mumsontop.co.nz
At Mums on Top we've heard the voices of mums, and this year we are doing our best to let New Zealand mums know just how much we appreciate them.
For Mother Appreciation Week 2010, we've pulled together some of New Zealand's top celebrities and each day through the first week of May a New Zealand celebrity will send all those who sign up, a personalized message. Some will be inspiring, some will be funny, but ultimately New Zealand mums will know that they are the backbone of New Zealand society.
There is also the opportunity for winning prizes by top brands such as L'Oreal and Wii Fit by nominating a mum who needs some appreciation. No, she doesn't need to have the perfect house, she doesn't need to be self-sacrificing 24/7. She's a Mum on Top. And what does that mean? It means she is what she is, she's fallible, she's authentic, she's got a sense of humour and she lives her life her way. She loves her family, but she also loves herself.
"Mums in 2010 have their work cut out for them," says Marilynn McLachlan, Mums on Top publisher. "When we asked our mums what they need more of, it was rather simple: they wanted to hear thank you for the job they are doing. Everyday mothers around the country are doing the little things: managing the kids, home, work and more often than not, contributing to local schools and kindergartens. This is our way of saying we appreciate what mums are doing."
With a personalized email each day from a celebrity, spot prizes throughout the week and voting for New Zealand's Mum on Top, Mother Appreciation Week promises to have mums feeling a million dollars by Mother's Day.
