DHL supports kiwi designers’ debut at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

Auckland, 30 April, 2010 – New Zealand fashion designers Stolen Girlfriends Club (SGC) will kick off their first show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) on Monday evening to an eager crowd of international fashion media and buyers, as well as local fans and supporters.

One of those supporters is DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, who has been working with SGC since they won the inaugural DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship in 2008.

To continue its support of SGC, DHL has provided AU$7,500 worth of freight to help the designers take their latest range across the Tasman to their first fashion show at RAFW.

Luke Harwood, Creative Director of SGC, says, “RAFW is a big step for our label and we have been working really hard to make sure the show is well received. The team at DHL have been great and it is good to know we have their support.”

To further its commitment to emerging fashion exporters, DHL is launching the DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship in Australia.

Phil Corcoran, National Sales Manager at DHL Express (NZ) Ltd, says, “The scholarship was very successful in New Zealand and we have enjoyed working with exporting designers like SGC. It is exciting to see them continue to achieve their goals as they expand their business globally.

“Bringing the scholarship to Australia is exciting and we are pleased to continue our support of the fashion industry in this way. Local up-and-coming fashion exporters will have the chance to win export services and industry-specific knowledge as well as international freight to the value of AU$10,000 at just the right time to help grow their business internationally.”

DHL will hold the 2010 DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship in New Zealand for a third year running to continue its ongoing commitment to the New Zealand textile and apparel sector.

SGC will be showing their spring/summer 2010/11 range to a thousand-strong crowd at RAFW on Monday, 3 May.
