British Actress Nancy Schroder is set to reprise her role as Shirley Valentine for a boutique tour in June, performing in New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington, & Auckland.

This poignant and very funny comedy was written by English playwright Willy Russell (Educating Rita, Blood Brothers) and made into an award winning film in the late ‘80’s featuring Pauline Collins.

Shirley Valentine has received rave reviews wherever it has played, and standing ovations in many theatres across NZ!

In June 2009, on a cold winters night, approximately 1100 people turned out in Christchurch to come to the Isaac Theatre Royal to enjoy this innovative production.

Nancy says of the role “Shirley is such a wonderful character, full of wit and insight, and very quirky. She really is a joy to play. She is so non-judgemental, and includes the audience, talking to them like they are her best friend. The play is a bit naughty…adult if you like…and both men & women seem to enjoy the humour equally”.

The Auckland & Wellington shows are supporting The NZ Breast Cancer Foundation, andwith a percentage of ticket revenue tithed as a donation.

The set & lighting design, has been created by the acclaimed Michael Knapp (Opera Australia) who will once again weave his magic on this June Tour, for “Shirley”.
