Snow storm to hit AUT

Snow storm to hit AUT

AUT’s Wellesley Street campus will be transformed into an extreme snowboard park for the first-ever AuSM Snow Jam on July 21, as part of AuSM's Winter Fest re-orientation programme.

AuSM (Auckland Student Movement at AUT) has teamed up with FTB Snowboard Camps to bring the one-time invitational snowboarding exhibition to Auckland City.

FTB has been gaining a reputation for its street jams after last year’s Taka' Throw Down on Takapuna Beach, which saw thousands of spectators turn out to catch a glimpse of the action.

Utilising the gladiatorial arena of Hikuwai Plaza, 20 of New Zealand's top riders will do battle in a two-hour jam session. With an engineered structure from Camelspace towering above the courtyard and tonnes of snow the stage is set for a showdown of momentous proportions.

Boarders will be "competing" for the honours of the crowd and claim to the FTB/AuSM Rail King title.

Less requited, will be the Kings&Fools nomination of Rail Jester - given for the worst slam or wipeout on the night.

Expect to see some technical combos from the up-and-coming youngsters and some solid hammers from the old dogs.

The AuSM Snow Jam will erupt at 5pm and be followed by an after-party at AUT's own Vesbar, with music from Red Bull DJs.

The Snow Jam is free and open to the public.

Don't get snowed under this semester, come to the AuSM Snow Jam and get a leg up on winter.
