Win Books for You And Your School – Vote Now!

Kids can win books for themselves and their school by voting for their favourite reads over the next week.

Young Kiwis aged 5 to 16 have until midnight on Sunday, 8 August, to choose their best-loved books in the Whitcoulls Kids’ Top 50. To vote, they just have to visit www.whitcoulls.co.nz and click on the Kids’ Top 50 banner.

Ten readers will win the top 10 books for themselves while the five schools with the most votes will each get a $500 Whitcoulls Gift Card to help them stock up their libraries.

“We love books at Whitcoulls and we want to encourage that interest among our school kids to give them a life-long love of reading and learning,” says Whitcoulls Marketing Manager Catherine Collins.

“The great thing about the Whitcoulls Kids’ Top 50 is it’s voted by kids for kids.”

Last year, Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series took the top spot, closely followed by the Harry Potter books. Squeaking in at third was the Geronimo Stilton books while local authors included Hairy Maclary author Lynley Dodd and Jane Blonde writer Jill Marshall. Representing the old guard were Enid Blyton and Dr Seuss.

Collins said there were other fun things to do on the Kids’ Top 50 website including a “match the pairs” game, print out a bookmark, and make your own badge.

The winning books will be announced later in the year.
