Operatunity calls all romantics!

MEDIA RELEASE – August 9, 2010

Operatunity calls all romantics!

Operatunity are bringing music lovers the world’s most romantic music with the award-winning touring groups latest show ‘I’m in Love with Vienna’.

The concert features soprano Susan Boland, tenor John Cameron, world famous in New Zealand tenor Benjamin Fifita Makisi, baritone Orene Tiai, and pianist Alex Wiltshire.

Joining this star-studded cast is a new addition to Operatunity, violinist Jessica Hindin. Jessica returns to New Zealand after 5 years of touring internationally, and is a frequent performer with the Auckland Philharmonic, and Auckland Chamber orchestras.

Company director and singer Susan Boland says this show will feature repertoire like Vienna city of my dreams, Champagne Trio, and I’m in love with Vienna from ‘The Great Waltz’, so wear your crinolines and come along and waltz with us.

“We will present songs from Vienna and surrounds which inspired some of the world’s most popular, beautiful and romantic melodies, by such composers as Strauss and Lehar,” she says.
Makisi, dubbed as New Zealand’s “Pacific Pavarotti”, returns to Operatunity for his second concert tour this year, and is well remembered for his solo performance at Sir Edmund Hillary’s funeral, and numerous appearances with Opera Australia and NZ Opera.

‘I’m in love with Vienna’ will be presented throughout August and September as part of Operatunity’s series of daytime concerts touring nationally to 23 venues, eight times a year.

Tickets are just $27 each, which includes lunch with the artists and group discounts available also. To book call Operatunity on 0508 266 237, or book online at www.operatunity.co.nz. Calls are toll free, and no booking or postage fees apply.
