Lone Tree is masterful

UCOL Senior Lecturer in photography Kaye Davis describes her recent win in the internationally acclaimed Photography Masters Cup competition as “surreal”.

In her previous attempts Kaye has gained a nomination and an Honorable Mention in the Photography Masters Cup but is delighted to have claimed a first place in her third year of entry.

“I can’t believe I beat all those other amazing images,” she says.

Kaye’s image titled Lone Tree won her the top award in the Nature category of the prestigious event that attracts thousands of entries from around the world.

Kaye should not be surprised the image has achieved international success. Lone Tree has already gained Gold Medals in the Landscape categories of both the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP) and the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) annual print awards.

Lone Tree is a composite image that combines two textural overlays, and a striking image of a single tree in the middle of a Waikato field.

Kaye loves photographing landscapes and is presently preparing her entries for next month’s 2010 NZIPP photography awards.

Photography Masters Cup is the leading international award to honour colour photography and features the best professional and amateur photographers in a prestigious annual contest and globally webcast event.
The July 2010 live webcast winners’ ceremony Photoshow attracted over 40,000 viewers from 154 countries who logged on live to see the Winners Gala.
With a collective Jury of the world's most recognized experts from National Geographic Channel to Christies in New York, the Masters Cup is highly regarded in the photographic industry.
