Free workshops:

10:30am - 12pm

Level 1 Foyer, Te Papa

For all ages in Samoan Sasa, Waltz and Afro-Cuban dance. "Have a go!"

No experience required

* 10:30am - Samoan Sasa

* 11am - Waltz

* 11:30am - Salsa

Free performance:

2 - 4 pm Soundings Theatre

Free entry, no interval

Free performance: 1-2pm
Free workshop: 4.30-5.30pm

>From the highlands of West Sumatra, Indonesia, comes a performance of
percussion, dance, and song. Hear the haunting tones of the saluang
flute, watch the graceful movements of the plate dance, and experience
the dynamic martial arts dance called randai. Leading performers and
composers from the Minangkabau culture will showcase their musical
heritage for the first time in New Zealand. Later in the afternoon, why
not take part in a Randai Workshop! This is an interactive workshop for
all ages. Randai dance is based on Indonesian martial arts and includes
hand claps, body slaps, and pants percussion.
