The Corelli School of Arts Hosts Piano Zoo Concert
As one of the most popular musical
instruments, the piano is often used in solo performances;
however, this weekend there will be more than two hands
striking the piano keys at The Corelli School of
Arts.
An ensemble of students and teachers will take to the stage for what will be one of the most exciting and unusual musical events of the school year. The Piano Zoo Concert will showcase the talent of the music department, whose members will collectively perform pieces with as many as 16 hands on two pianos.
Head of Performing Arts at Corelli School, David Selfe (Professional Certificate and Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music), says the concert will showcase a piano performance the likes of which audience members have never heard before. “Students will have a unique opportunity to participate in an ensemble playing, which is rare for many children, especially the younger ones.”
Those performing in this special event include Mr Selfe, Instrumental Music Coordinator Yun-Pai Hsu, Instrumental Teacher Sharon Vogan, and many more. The performers will be accompanied by a string orchestra.
The special event will be a night out for the whole family to enjoy, with tickets raising funds for the school. The event is being held at Corelli School’s Jonmer Theatre, Saturday 4 September at 7pm. Tickets cost $10 or $20 and are available from the Corelli School office.
