"Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" Breaking World Records Already

Theatrical Premiere of the Feature-Length Documentary "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" Breaking World Records Already

Interest in the non-profit, independent film work is skyrocketing. On January 15 2011, over 300 independent groups will host theatrical screenings of the documentary "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" in 31 languages across 58 countries, 285 cities, including 5 in New Zealand – A world record for an independently distributed film. The New Zealand Chapter of The Zeitgeist Movement will present the theatrical world premiere of the sequel film "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" across the country on January 15 2011. The three central themes of the film are Human Behaviour, Monetary Economics, and Applied Science. Put together, the film creates a model that enables an understanding of the current social paradigm and why it is critical to move out of it - coupled with a new, radical, yet practical approach, extrapolating immutable natural laws into a new sustainable social paradigm called a “Resource-Based Economy."

The award-winning, controversial, 2007 work “Zeitgeist: The Movie”, widely considered the most-watched internet-movie of all time, obtained over 100,000,000 views online during the first year of its publication. In 2008, a sequel to the work, entitled “Zeitgeist: Addendum," was premiered at the Artivist Film Festival in Hollywood, CA. As with its predecessor, the award winning “Addendum” was a huge viral internet phenomenon obtaining over 50,000,000 views within its first year.

After the release of this sequel, its creator, Peter Joseph, founded a social movement inspired by the public reaction called “The Zeitgeist Movement.” This global organization, with now over half a million subscribers across 200+ countries, works to begin a cultural transition into a new sustainable economic paradigm and "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" is, in part, a media expression of the same focus.
