Call for Entries - the 3rd Inigo Film Festival 2011 for Short Films

Young film makers are welcome to submit their films until April 15, 2011

Brussels, February 2011 -- The Conference of European Jesuit Provincials is to be the sponsor of the 3rd Inigo Film Festival (TIFF) for short films in 2011. It is inviting film-makers born in 1976 or later to submit entries which will be shown during the World Youth Day in August this year in Madrid, Spain. Announcing the Jesuits’ patronage, the President of the Conference of European Provincials, Fr. John Dardis, S.J., said he was delighted after the great success in 2008 in Australia that the Society was supporting young filmmakers again. He stated that the theme of the 2011 competition would be City of God.

“The films should reflect the spiritual yearnings and experiences of young people today, using the medium of film,” said Fr Dardis. “For example, we will welcome submissions that show the presence and absence of God in our modern secularized world; and we also welcome films that take into account the twin dimensions of faith and justice.”

Five Inigo Awards are given to the best short films. There is a first prize of 2.500 EUR, with a second and third prize of 1.500 EUR and 1.000 EUR respectively. There are two additional awards: an “Audience Award” (non-monetary) to a film chosen by the audience; and the “Fidel Goetz Emerging Film-Maker Award”, which recognizes the best film by a young film-maker who does not have access to professional equipment. The latter includes FCP Studio Pro, a top-of-the-line professional editing software and a travel stipend for the festival. Each of the five prizes is accompanied by an additional professional software bundle by Showbiz of Hollywood.
