Classic Wallabies vs Classic All Blacks International

Legends Line up and Tickets Snapped up for Classic Wallabies vs Classic All Blacks International on March 10 in Brisbane

BRISBANE, Australia, Mar. 3/Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --

More than 10,000 tickets have been sold in 24 hours to what is fast becoming the people's rugby event of the year – Triple M's Classic Rugby for Christchurch" - a rugby international of Classic Wallabies against Classic All Blacks to be staged at Ballymore in Brisbane next Thursday March 10.

While ticket sales alone have overwhelmed Triple M, this morning on The Cage two passionate rugby supporters and Kiwi loyalists fought it out on air to sponsor the sleeves of the Classic All Blacks jerseys – each will pay $26,000 for the sleeve naming rights; $52,000 in total for sleeves alone (it was fantastic radio, sound bites available).

Triple M's Classic Rugby for Christchurch, the brainchild of The Cage's Greg 'Marto' Martin, himself a former Wallaby great, will raise money for a country devastated by earthquake. The event is one of the most ambitious projects on Australian radio.

The CLASSIC WALLABIES will be captained by 'Marto', joining him is a who's who including Tim Horan, Sam Scott Young, Garrick Morgan, Pat Howard, Andrew Heath, George Gregan, Toutai Kefu, David Croft, Nathan Spooner, Sean Hardman, and Mark Connors. Tom Lawton, Andrew Blades, Anthony Herbert, Paul Carozza, Jeremy Paul, Dan Crowley, Richard Harry, Andy McIntyre, Geoff Didier, Warwick Waugh, Scott Gourlay and James Grant are also on board.
