Dan Carter Kicks Off Nationwide Search For 15 Jockey Juniors

Today (08 March 2011) Dan Carter officially kicked off a nationwide search for Jockey, to find a team of 15 boys and girls (between the ages of 7-12yrs) to be the ‘Face for Jockey Junior’.

All 15 winning boys and girls will win a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’ to spend the day with Dan Carter at an official photo shoot; the photography from which, will be used in a campaign for a new range - ‘Jockey Sports Club’.

As a result, these Kiwi kids will be photographed with Dan in ‘Jockey Sports Club’ t-shirts, singlets and running shorts; as well as enjoy a sit down lunch and an autograph session with Dan and their parent or guardian on the special day.

Any parent or guardian can nominate their own (7-12yrs) ‘Jockey Junior’ by visiting their local Famers store and purchasing any Jockey product to receive an official ‘Jockey Junior Entry Form’ to enter.

Dan Carter says of the competition: “Jockey is looking for 15 happy, everyday boys and girls - from Invercargill right up to the top of Kaitaia - to get involved and join our team. I personally can’t wait to meet the winning kids and have some fun running around on the shoot. It will be a really different Jockey shoot for me and I hope a really fantastic day for them!”

Farmers stores across New Zealand are involved in the competition to make entry as easy and accessible as possible, Dean Cook, Head of Marketing at Farmers, explains:
“The winning 15 boys and girls could come from absolutely anywhere in New Zealand, and walk through our doors, which is really exciting for us. Farmers is delighted to be able to link kids in each local community with a real chance (15 in fact!) to spend time and star alongside an international icon.”

As part of the competition, Jockey is looking to support each community further, by giving parent or guardians the chance to also nominate a local Sports Club and for two winning clubs to win a $5000 donation comprising of uniforms, equipment and cash.

Tanya Foster, Jockey Marketing Manager explains: “This ‘Show Your Support’ prize element is to ensure two sports clubs (one from the North Island and one from the South Island) can also benefit from the nationwide interest that this competition, with Dan Carter, will definitely generate.

“Clubs of any sport are an important part of every local community in New Zealand, (for both adults and kids) and as such should be supported. At Jockey we are really looking forward to discovering the very different kinds of Kiwi kids and clubs that this competition will reveal and capture some of that personality and magic in a new advertising campaign.”

The competition opens on 01 March 2011 and closes 29 April 2011. The 15 winners will be selected by a panel of judges consisting of representatives from Jockey and Farmers. The judges are on the look out for everyday kiwi kids (not models, signed or otherwise).

All 15 winners will be announced by Jockey and Dan Carter at the St Lukes Shopping Centre in Auckland on 25 May 2011.
