In The Mood Kicks Off In NZ

SAT 3 SEPT AUCKLAND ASB THEATRE, AOTEA CENTRE

SUN 4 SEPT HAMILTON FOUNDERS THEATRE

IN THE MOOD - The sensational, all singing, all dancing and All-American brassy celebration of 1940's Swing is finally touring Down Under in September and kicking off in New Zealand with two shows in Auckland and Hamilton.

IN THE MOOD features a swell cast of nineteen in the blistering STRING OF PEARLS BIG BAND ORCHESTRA and inexhaustible IN THE MOOD Singers and Swing Dancers from New York, on a nostalgic journey through the music which guided a nation's spirit towards hope, promise and prosperity.

This was a time when America was in tune with the sentimental ballads and up-tempo Swing rhythms, where the waltz and foxtrot competed on the ballroom dance floor with the wild, acrobatic jitterbug, jive and boogie-woogie crazed Hepcats and Lindy-Hoppers.

IN THE MOOD recreates this defining era through sizzling choreography, romantic harmonies, scats and sassy costumes and an hypnotic thirteen-piece Big Band, belting out an authentic score of over fifty unforgettable hits from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and the Andrews Sisters -

Chattanooga Choo Choo, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (of Company B), In The Mood, Tuxedo Junction, Sing, Sing, Sing, Sentimental Journey and so much more.

IN THE MOOD was performed at an inauguration for President Bill Clinton, is accredited as an entertainment for World War II commemorations and currently in its eighteenth season of sold out performances throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

Accompanist for The Singing Sergeants (the official United States Air Force Chorus) and IN THE MOOD Creator, Producer and Artistic Director Bud Forrest says:

"Many of the arrangements were written by Vic Schoen, the conductor for the Andrews Sisters and Musical Director for Universal and Paramount Pictures. The songs are timeless and this production is as authentic as it gets. We are honoured to be performing IN THE MOOD Down Under and delighted to be making our debut in New Zealand!"

IN THE MOOD tickets include a Hot Hepcat offer for Groups of 8 or more plus concessions for Pensioners, Seniors and Children under 14.

If you're a fan of Big Bands and the music which continues to inspire, Swing by the Box Office now.
