Farmers’ Markets New Zealand—Out Standing in Their Fields

Farmers’ Markets New Zealand—Out Standing in Their Fields

18 July 2011

Out Standing in Their Fields is a national roadshow of free cooking demonstrations held at Farmers’ Markets. We will be shining the spotlight on the great variety of seasonal, local produce available the length of New Zealand. This Farmers’ Markets New Zealand (FMNZ) project is part of the REAL New Zealand Festival, and will showcase the best of Kiwi cuisine during the Rugby World Cup 2011 with great chefs such as Brett McGregor (winner of MasterChef 2010).

Out Standing in their Fields is delighted to announce the first of our Kiwi food heroes who will be delighting Farmers’ Market fans at one of the grass roots cooking demonstrations. Jonny Schwass, Canterbury chef and local food advocate will be putting on a show at one lucky Canterbury Farmers’ Market, sharing his belief that “knowing part of the story about your food is such a powerful part of enjoying a meal”. Brett McGregor, New Zealand’s first Masterchef winner, will show us all how it’s done when he visits the Taranaki Farmers’ Market. Don’t miss your chance to check out these top Kiwi chefs in action - Join us on facebook to keep up with all details.

This is a great chance for people to see what’s on offer at their local Farmers’ Market, enjoy some world class food and support their local communities. Shoppers can be inspired by new recipes from New Zealand’s top chefs and enjoy a great day out for the whole family. We have many more chefs to announce over the coming weeks, as well as some great foodie prizes to give away, so stay updated by signing up for our newsletter – more information at www.outstandingintheirfields.org.nz
