Big Prize Pool For Poker Championships

SKYCITY CONFIRMS $80K PRIZE POOL FOR ITS AUCKLAND ANNIVERSARY POKER CHAMPIONSHIPS

SKYCITY Auckland’s 2012 poker calendar will begin strongly with its first tournament, the 2012 SKYCITY Auckland Anniversary Poker Championship, guaranteed to deliver an NZ$80,000* prize pool.

Poker players from around New Zealand will be keen to get their game face on with two-time defending champion Jackson Zheng unable to attend this year’s event.

The tournament will be held at the dedicated facility, SKYCITY Poker, located on Level 3 of SKYCITY Auckland’s Main Site from 23 - 30 January 2012. The Main Event will be held from 26 - 30 January.

Satellites for the SKYCITY Auckland Anniversary Poker Championship began on 1 January and are held at SKYCITY Auckland’s poker room. Entry into the Satellites is from as little as $20 with $20 re-buys up to a $240 satellite event. Satellite tournaments allow players to win their way into the main event through mini tournaments that will be held week days from Monday to Thursdays.

The Main Event will be run as a repechage event allowing players who buy into Day 1a and do not make the cut to buy into Day 1b or Day 1c for the full buy-in price – thus giving them another shot at making it through. The buy-in for the Main Event of the SKYCITY Auckland Anniversary Poker Championships is NZ$1,100. Play will begin at 6.15pm on Day 1a and 12.30pm on the remaining days of play.

During the tournament a No Limit Texas Hold’em Deep Stack with Antes Event will be held on Monday 30 January at 12.30pm with a buy-in of NZ$330.

For the tournament structure and more details on the tournament including prize money breakdowns see www.skycityauckland.co.nz/poker.

*Please note the actual prize pool may be greater depending on the number of entrants.
