Inaugural Hare Krishna Festival: 11 February 2012

Inaugural Hare Krishna Festival -Fun filled day for family: 11 February 2012

Saturday (11 February) will bring the Wellington Hare Krishna devotees parading through the streets of Wellington dancing to the tunes of the melodious ancient music and the radiant colours from the very heart of India. The street dancing and chanting parade will end at the Odlins Plaza near Te Papa where a fun filled day for families will await – something that everyone will treasure and remember for years. The Hare Krishna Festival will take place from 11am-6pm at the gorgeous waterfront near Te Papa.

Organised by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), the Festival aims to provide the opportunity to the people of Wellington and those at Odlins Plaza on the day of Saturday 11th February to personally meet our Dear Spiritual Master His Holiness Janananda Maharaja from United Kingdom and learn about Krishna Consciousness and vegetarianism. ISKCON devotees from Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch, Masterton, Palmerston North, Otaki and Auckland would keep everyone entertained using music, yoga, face painting, children’s activities, and drama. Come and enjoy as we provide our marvelous and delicious free food (called prasadam). Distribution of prasadam was introduced to the Western world by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1960/70. Accordingly it is our pleasure carry on these traditions. Swami Prabhupada was an extraordinary person who dedicated his life to teaching the world about Krishna Consciousness, ancient India's most noble message of spiritual wisdom. He was the founder of ISKCON.
