Inaugural Hare Krishna Festival - Free Food & Colour Play: 11 February 2012

International Society for the Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) will be providing world famous Hare Krishna food free of charge to all at its inaugural Hare Krishna Festival that will be held at the Odlins Plaza on the gorgeous Wellington Waterfront on Saturday 11 February 2012. Bring your friend, family and workmates and enjoy the mouthwatering and splendid free food prepared with lots of devotion and love for everyone by very well-known Hare Krishna devotee and highly experienced Hare Krishna chef, Dilaram Sapkota – pictured below. Free food will be served from 1.00 pm onwards until it runs out. There would be only one plate per person served in order to cater to as many people as we can. Those attending the festival would also get a 10% discount voucher for food at the famous Higher Taste Restaurant (Old Bank arcade, Customhouse Quay or Queensgate mall, Lower Hutt).

In 1974 at the ISKCON temple, Mayapur, the founder and spiritual master of the movement A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada saw many hungry people coming to eat. He told his disciples “In our temples, within ten miles radius nobody should remain hungry. After that an ISKCON Food for life program was started to distribute free food to millions of people. Since its inception the Hare Krishna Food for Life has distributed over 100 million plates .

Accordingly it is our pleasure carry on these traditions. Swami Prabhupada was an extraordinary person who dedicated his life to teaching the world about Krishna Consciousness, ancient India's most noble message of spiritual wisdom.

The Hare Krishna Festival will be full of freebies and one of which will be a play of vibrant and eye catching rang (colours). At around 5.30 pm all present at Odlins Plaza at the Hare Krishna Festival can take part in the very ancient tradition from mystical and spiritual India of playing colours to celebrate how Lord Narashima (Supreme Personality of Godhead or none other than Lord Krishna Himself) protected his very dear child devotee, Prahlad Maharaj. So jump in and spoil yourself to this tradition that is not be missed by anyone! Colours will be provided.

Ice cream, drinks and other wonderful Indian snacks will be available separately for a small charge.
