Weddings take centre stage at Splore festival

A record number of weddings have been booked at this year Splore festival on 17-19 February, located one hour South East of Auckland on a stunning beach location. A wedding co-ordinator has been employed by the festival to work with the couples to ensure their big day goes off without a hitch and the festival can accommodate all the couple’s needs.

The weddings mostly fall on Friday and range from small affairs with a civil union on the beach, to larger events of 50 guests who will get exclusive use of one of the structures before the entertainment kicks off on Friday night.

Amanda Wright, Splore Festival Director says “I can’t think of any festival in the world that holds real weddings like Splore does. Over the years at Splore – people have met their true loves, lovers have proposed to their darlings and babies have been conceived – facilitating a wedding seemed entirely appropriate. In fact we were honoured that people hold the festival in such high regard that they would consider celebrating their most important day with us.”

Splore provides the wedding venue and a qualified celebrant, guaranteeing a genuine ceremony which is followed by a huge weekend party to celebrate. Style and soul icon Erykah Badu takes to the stage on Friday night followed by 90s iconic group Soul 11 Soul. The weekend is crammed full of entertainment with an eye watering weekend of music, art and performance.

The wedding couples will be glamping, making their honeymoon at the festival a top knotch camping experience. Think real beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, bedside tables, 24 hour concierge, hot showers and real toilets. The wedding guests all camp together near by in the VIP camping zone.

There’s no holding back this Splore with over 40 international and Kiwi entertainers - there is literally something for everyone. It’s no wonder people describe Splore festivals as the best weekend of their lives - with entertainment including a cabaret club, dedicated performance zone, music across multiple stages, workshops, family friendly zone, the art trail and the convenient location to Auckland.

Adding to the appealing aesthetic design of the festival, the Splore art trail will weave throughout the location presenting works from a diverse cross section of contemporary New Zealand artists, architects, sculptors and spatial designers - all set in a natural environment where the audience can interact with the art over the weekend.

Staged at the stunning Tapapakanga Regional Park, the beach front location is sublime and is designed for the audience to camp in many forms on site for a fully immersive three days. Camping is included in the ticket price, unless you choose to upgrade to a reserved camping spot or campervan, or want a taste of glamorous camping (known as Glamping) for an additional price which have now all sold out.

Experience Splore - 17-19 February 2012, Tapapakanga Regional Park, one hour (70km) south east of Auckland city.
