NZ Rally Championship To Screen On TV One

29 February 2012

All five rounds of the 2012 Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship, powered by Brother, will screen on TV One on Sunday afternoons.

Top-class rally action and on-event interviews with competitors will feature in a one-hour highlights’ show from four of the five rounds of New Zealand’s premier rally championship. The other event, Brother Rally New Zealand, will have a special 90-minute highlights’ package created by the contracted television and post-production company, Volt TV. The highlights’ shows screen around two weeks after each event. In addition, four of the five rounds have half or one hour preview shows which screen the week prior to each rally.

Peter (‘PJ’) Johnston, chairman of Rally of New Zealand Ltd which manages and promotes the NZRC, is looking forward to seeing more world-class television coverage of New Zealand’s premier rally championship.

“We enjoyed some brilliant rallying throughout the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship last year,” says Johnston. “And I’m confident that Dave Hedge and his team from Volt TV will again provide us with fantastic action footage and topical interviews with the great line-up of competitors contesting this year’s championship.”

The championship starts at the end of March – several weeks earlier than usual – with Brother International Rally of Whangarei which counts for the NZRC and the Asia Pacific Rally Championship. Then comes Trusthouse Racetech Rally Wairarapa at the end of April, DriveSouth Rally Otago at the end of May before June’s Brother Rally New Zealand which is also a round of the World Rally Championship. The NZRC wraps up with a new two-day format for Rally Gisborne in August.
