Tiki Taane shares good energy with Kiwi kids

Award-winning musician Tiki Taane – producer of New Zealand’s most successful single of all time ‘Always on My Mind’ - is raising money for Starship Children’s Hospital with proceeds from his new single ‘Over the Rainbow’ going to the Starship Foundation. The song - a new take on an old classic - features as the soundtrack to Mercury Energy’s new brand campaign, which celebrates the concept of New Zealanders exuding “good energy” in their daily life.

Mercury Energy has been a corporate partner of the Starship Foundation for more than a decade, and the Mercury Energy Star Supporters Club allows Mercury customers to donate to the foundation through their monthly electricity bill. The Club has almost 30,000 Mercury Energy customers as members and, when combined with Mercury’s annual donation, is the Starship Foundation’s largest single corporate contributor – raising more than $800,000 in 2011 to fund essential facilities and equipment.

Speaking about the new single, Tiki said: "Over the last two years I've built up an awesome relationship with Starship Children’s Hospital. I've seen firsthand the incredible work the people of Starship have done for hundreds of NZ families. Mercury Energy and the Star Supporters Club help to make sure these families receive the best possible care, so it's a real honour and a huge buzz for me to be involved in the good energy campaign and help give something back."

Mercury Energy’s General Manager James Munro said: “The essence of this campaign is “good energy”, something that’s alive and well in New Zealand. All Kiwis have a good energy story – whether it’s the time someone stopped to help you when your car broke down on the side of the road, or the stranger who returned your lost wallet– complete with cash. We decided that joining with Tiki to support Kiwi families when they need it most was a great way to celebrate such a deeply Kiwi way of life.”
