Red Checkers Tour Finale — Warbirds Over Wanaka

The Air Force Red Checkers will perform their popular aerobatic displays at Warbirds over Wanaka during Easter. This display will mark the end of their national tour to celebrate 75 years of the RNZAF.

The Red Checkers’ display will take place at 11.55am (weather permitting) on Saturday 7 April and again on Sunday 8 April.

The RNZAF is also participating in the flying display with four helicopters—a new A109, two Iroquois, one Seasprite – a C-130 Hercules and a P-3K Orion. The Kiwi Blue parachute team will also conduct display jumps (weather permitting).

A third Iroquois, the Hercules, and an Airtrainer will be on show to the public in the static display, and the Central Band of the RNZAF will play for the patrons. Also visible will be Defence Force Careers staff sharing information about a career with the Defence Force.

The RNZAF has supported Warbirds over Wanaka since its inception, and those attending this year are looking forward to another great weekend commemorating both New Zealand’s aviation heritage and the RNZAF’s own anniversary.
