The Future Is In Good Hands With The Appointment Of A New CEO & An Expanded Management Team

A CEO has been appointed to the World of WearableArt (WOW), to replace the current CEO Gabrielle Hervey who announced her retirement at the end of last year. And in addition an appointment has been made for the newly-created Show Producer role.

Former Air New Zealand senior manager Meg Matthews has been appointed the new CEO, and Diana Marsh ex General Manager of the Vector Wellington Orchestra has come on board as the 2012 Show Producer.

Meg Matthews, formerly Head of Marketing Australasia for Air New Zealand, will assume the role of WOW CEO as of 16 April. Meg has a broad and impressive track record of experience across key business disciplines of Finance, Human Resource Management, Strategic Planning and Marketing.

Dame Suzie Moncrieff says Meg’s broad experience means she will be well placed to provide the necessary commercial leadership to add value to the WOW brand, the annual Brancott Estate WOW Awards shows, and other future projects.

“We are thrilled that Meg will be joining us to lead the WOW team as Chief Executive,” Moncrieff says. “We are extremely impressed with Meg and believe she has the experience and passion to take WOW where it needs to go in the future”.

The new Chief Executive says that her appointment to WOW is her dream job. “The World of WearableArt is an incredible brand for New Zealand, and I look forward to working with Dame Suzie and the rest of the team to identify and implement new strategies to build upon the WOW brands current success,” Matthews says.

Meanwhile, Diana Marsh steps into the newly created role of Show Producer, bringing her experience as General Manager of the Vector Wellington Orchestra and Manager of the New Zealand String Quartet into play. Dame Suzie Moncrieff says that “Diana’s vast experience in the arts producing an array of events, will greatly assist with the successful production of the annual show. Each year the show tends to get more complex in its staging and the role of Show Producer will be a great addition to the management team.

Show Producer, Diana, who started in her new role yesterday, says she is “honoured to join the organisation and is looking forward to working with the team to produce the 2012 Brancott Estate World of WearableArt Awards Show in Wellington.”

Dame Suzie Moncrieff says that after a decade as the CEO Gabrielle Hervey leaves the business is “in great spirits” having grown the show from a four-day Nelson event attracting 12,500 people in 2002, to the staggering Wellington-hosted audiences of around 50,000 in the 2011 season.

“WOW has recently taken a number of new steps to develop and expand its business and brand both nationally and internationally,” Dame Suzie says. “And these talented new appointments will help to ensure that WOW has an exciting and bright future ahead.

The World of WearableArt™ is a concept created in 1987 by Dame Suzie Moncrieff, to take art off the wall and adorn the human form, then showcase each creation in a dramatic setting. A new way to experience art and fashion was born and Dame Suzie called it WearableArt™. The annual World of WearableArt Awards Show in Wellington, is proudly a New Zealand event, and now attracts over a third of its entrants internationally, giving the event a global flavour.
