Performances tonight at Audio Foundation HQ

Liam Bowen, Sean O'Reilly and Saucertronix (Alan Holt)

Please feel free to join us for tonight's performance evening at the Audio Foundation!

Liam Bowen finds new opportunities in old children’s toys, taking sounds and reshaping them through the addition of new components, turning the sound of farm animals into lo-fi sonic rumbling, and so on. Imagine the sound of waves of white noise crashing on a distant beach, or the final pulsations of a dying circuit.

Sean O'Reilly - "Sean had a colorsound wah that made the most horrendously high pitched feedback scream. He could go whole gigs without noticing that large parts of the audience had passed out from pain or, more often than not, simply left the building. Sometimes the engineer would kill the power which would only encourage faux primitive fire ritual carry-on. A strange cult grew up around this phenomena, a cult with about 3 members who have all since fled the country."

Saucertronix is Alan Holt. For the past 15 years or so Alan has been one half of free form experimental rock duo White Saucer. For this, Alan’s first solo performance this decade, the musician will be utilizing the legendary RZ-1 drum machine (a favourite instrument for early Chicago House producers as well as famed Hip Hop producer Prince Paul - the former utilizing the device on many classic early De La Soul tracks) and the equally as legendary Korg 707 (as used by Juan Atkins and Chick Corea). Alan is still debating whether to bring his Carlsbro Suzz Phase pedal (as used by Hendrix) and the Alesis Microverb II reverb unit (My Bloody Valentine) but those in the know expect it’s already a done deal.
